Rogers HTC Magic joins the Dream with 911 problems
Just last week we reported a problem regarding the HTC Dream on Rogers in Canada, where the phone cannot connect to 911 Emergency while the location-based GPS was turned on. At that time, Rogers stopped selling the Dream in-stores and on-line, as the only work around was to go into the phone's menu and disable the GPS, or take Rogers up on their offer for a free HTC Magic upgrade. Now we're hearing that the Magic is suffering the same fate as the Dream: no 911 calls with GPS turned on, which means it is been pulled from store shelves as well. We sincerely hope that Rogers, HTC, and Google address this problem and issue a software upgrade fast. How many people do you know of would think..."I was just in a car accident, but before I call 911, I have to turn the GPS off on my phone". The best thing to do at this point is for all HTC Dream and Magic owners to just disable the GPS on their phone and wait for a software fix.
