Report says iPhone 5SE will use Apple's A9 chip and iPad Air 3 gets A9X
We're now less than one month away from the expected announcement of the 4-inch iPhone 5SE and the new iPad Air 3, so it's about time for the rumor mill and leaks to start kicking into high gear. The first report on the table that looks like lefit information is concerning the processors to be found in each of Apple's new devices.
The report is good news for those of you out there looking for a small but high-end device with the iPhone 5SE, because word has it that the new 4-inch iPhone will include the same 64-bit ARM Apple A9 SoC that is currently found in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The general consensus is that the A9 is an extremely fast processor, so the iPhone 5SE won't be a slouch. The iPhone 5SE won't get all of the goodies found in the iPhone 6S though. It is expected to have an NFC chip for Apple Pay as well as Live Photo support, but will not support 3D Touch.
The iPad Air 3 is also expected to be pretty impressive in the specs department, which was to be expected. The same report claims the iPad Air 3 will include the A9X SoC which is currently only available in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Previous rumors have claimed the iPad Air 3 will also support the Apple Pencil and include a 4k display, but is also not expected to support 3D Touch.
