Report says China Telecom to get both Apple iPhone 5 and "simplified" iPhone 4 this fall
According to Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White, a Chinese language site called Sohu.com is reporting that China Telecom and Apple have worked out a preliminary agreement. According to the agreement, the Cupertino based firm will provide the world's largest mobile carrier with not one, but two Apple iPhone models this fall.
One model will be the brand new Apple iPhone 5 and the second will be a cheaper "re-tooled" version of the current Apple iPhone 4. As we reported, there has been speculation that a plastic encased model of the current iPhone was being produced by Apple. With Android models spanning the range from low-end to high-end phones, Apple would like to be able to offer different versions of its iconic touchscreen phone to fit with customers varying spending plans. The models could help bring in $68 billion for Apple over the long term according to analyst White, a staunch bull on the company's stock.
