A report out of Taiwan on Tuesday, indicates that Korean manufacturer LG is already working on a second smartwatch. This new timepiece might be on the shelves not too long after the release of the LG G Watch. The latter is LG's first smartwatch and will debut the wearable-specific version of the Android platform designed by Google, Android Wear.
Besides the LG G Watch and the second smartwatch, LG will release in the first half of this year, the Lifeband Touch wrist band. This device keeps track of your daily fitness activities. Also due for a 1H 2014 release is the LG Heart Rate earphones, which monitor blood flow into a specific part of the ear. These two LG products will communicate with each other, and various Android and iOS devices running fitness apps.
So far, there hasn't been one particular smartwatch that has captured the imagination of a wide number of consumers. Samsung has already introduced a second generation of its smartwatches, although it did move away from Android and employed Tizen on them. Many are waiting to see what Apple has in store with the rumored iWatch. While Apple probably didn't plan on being last to market with such a device, delays have now given the Cupertino based tech titan the luxury of waiting to see what aspects of a smartwatch are being accepted by the public, and which functions are being ignored.
The LG G Watch will be released first, and will debut Google's new Android Wear
