Report: Apple iPad mini 2 and 5th-generation Apple iPad to launch in March
Brian White, an analyst with Topeka Capital Markets, is not a stranger to these pages, and the latest information he has received from his supplier sources suggests (alliteration alert!) that the Apple iPad mini 2 and the fifth-generation Apple iPad will be both launched in March, only five months after the introduction of the current models.
The sources tell White that the fifth iteration of Apple's 9.7 inch tablet will be faster and lighter than the current model. It will have the same design as the third-generation Apple iPad but will feature the faster A6X processor and the new lightning port. As for the Apple iPad mini 2, the new version is expected to have the same form factor with perhaps a faster processor inside. Despite previous talk of a Retina display for the Apple iPad mini 2, there was no word about the resolution of the screen for the sequel to Apple's 7.9 inch tablet.
White once again said that Apple will release a new Apple iPhone in the May-June timeframe, earlier than in the past two years. Consumers will have a variety of colors and sizes to choose from, said the analyst.
