Not unlike the show it game-ifies, The Simpsons: Tapped Out has been running successfully for quite some time now. While the mobile game has been treated to quite a bit of criticism due to its heavily monetized nature, it has been supported well in the two years it's been on the market. Ahead of Easter (Sunday), the official Simpsons game is receiving a free themed update.
As you may expect, it's not exactly about peacefully celebrating the Son of God's miracle ressurection. It's more about having the town of Springfield overrun by rabid rabbits that bring almost biblical destruction to its streets. We also heard there's an Easter Egg hunt with the option of trading eggs around with other players, but we believe it's difficult to do business with wild hares running around and preying on everything in sight, so getting rid of the vermin will be top priority.
In addition, there are some new characters - Crazy Cat Lady and Father Sean, along with new buildings, and a quest where Lisa seeks to understand how come bunny rabbits are laying eggs. Hmm, somehow that never crossed our heads...
Anyway, if you have the game installed, you should be receiving the update the instant you open it. For the rest of you, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is free to play on iOS and Android. And you can play the same game with
Family Guy characters on iOS, if you so desire.
