RIM's tablet is speculated to offer a 1GHz processor & front-facing camera
With a formidable force in the smartphone market, there was no denying that RIM would also be getting in the new business venture of crafting tablets – even more so when rival competitor Apple is already soaking in the success with the iPad. According to Rodman & Renshaw analyst, Ashok Kumar, RIM will be targeting a period some time close to the end of the year to launch their BlackBerry tablet. It's also speculated to employ a 1GHz processor under the hood on top of the 7” display it'll be flaunting. In a recent research note he said, “Research In Motion (RIMM, Market Perform) is trying to pull forward the launch of the 7-inch touchscreen tablet from early next year to year end...with a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for video conferencing.” However, RIM did not comment about the speculations, but it would be unimaginable for them to not respond with their own offering – especially when they compete head-on with Apple in the smartphone market.
