Prototype of Apple Watch watch dock to make CES appearance
A company called Standzout is at CES showing off prototypes of its Apple Watch accessory. The Bandstand Apple Watch dock, which Standzout calls "The first great Apple Watch accessory," uses an induction charging plate to power up the device while holding the watch in place. A pair of USB ports allow you to use the dock to charge other devices like an Apple iPhone or Apple iPad.
Of course, the Apple Watch has yet to be released, although there is speculation that Apple is planning on a Valentine's Day launch of its wearable device. This is sure to be just one of a plethora of accessories that will be made available for Apple's eagerly awaited timepiece. With early guesstimates for first year sales ranging as high as 30 million units, there is bound to be some heavy demand for Apple Watch accessories.
Unlike the other smartphone manufacturers, Apple has made an effort to have its smartwatch considered a piece of fashion jewelry. Immediately after the unveiling of the timepiece in September, some Madison Avenue pundits said that the device was too masculine. Others said that they preferred Apple's design over smartwatches made by LG or Samsung.
