Preliminary build of BlackBerry OS 6 seen running on a Verizon Bold 9650
The BlackBerry Torch 9800 managed to showcase the updated platform that RIM has been working on for quite some time last week in New York City during its unveiling, but now we're getting our first glimpse of the platform running on current hardware. There were images captured of a Verizon branded BlackBerry Bold 9650 running a preliminary build of OS 6 – which is of course one of the few handsets being given the thumbs up for the new platform. Naturally it would've been difficult to fathom to see this handset not receive the update – especially since it's one of the latest BlackBerry handsets to hit the market. However, it is reported that the platform is running a bit “sluggish” on the Bold 9650 – even with its 512MB of RAM. Granted that this isn't the final version and that multiple tweaks will most likely be conducted before its release, it might cause some alarm for Pearl 3G and Bold 9700 owners since those devices only pack 256MB of RAM. Nonetheless, the knowledge of the new platform hitting select handset should be uplifting, but let's hope that RIM irons out everything before putting this out.
