We've been hearing about Huawei's upcoming
Honor 7 handset for a while now – we've even been able to catch a few glimpses of what it may look like, thanks to
TENAA certification shots and a couple of leaks. The device will apparently sport a full-metal build and bear a fingerprint sensor on its back, just below the camera. All openings on the back plate appear to be square-shaped, keeping in line with the handset's defined rectangular shape.
Today, however, a new photo leaked on Chinese social network Weibo – one that shows the behind of what appears to be an Honor handset, which has its back plate arched, and its camera and fingerprint sensor circular in shape. Additionally, the LED flash is in an entirely different location, compared to the TENAA shots from earlier, and the design language as a whole seems to be different to what we've seen so far.
This could be the Honor 7 Plus, which we last heard about
a couple of months ago. It wouldn't surprise us if Huawei release two versions of the smartphone – just like it did with the
Honor 6 and
Honor 6 Plus, last year.
We still can't be certain whether this is the case, due to the obvious difference in design. The Honor 6 and 6 Plus were much more similar in this aspect, difference being that the latter sported a
dual camera, and a different finish. As far as hardware goes – the two predecessors were also very close, with the difference being that the 6 Plus had a Kirin 925 SoC, while the Honor 6 was loaded with the slightly less powerful Kirin 920.
Based on
earlier rumors, the two Honor 7 models should rock the new Kirin 935 SoC, 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM, 16 GB / 64 GB (or 128 GB) of internal storage, 13 MP main cameras, and impressive 3,280 mAh batteries. Reportedly, both will have 5” displays with 1080 x 1920 resolution, though, we'd assume that the Plus may end up having a larger display. Huawei is about to hold an event on
June the 8th and we suspect that's when the new handsets will be unveiled, so let's just wait and see!
