PayPal to become payment option for Android Market?
The Street.com is reporting that Google and PayPal have agreed to have the latter's payment system become an option for app buyers on the Android Market. The deal is expected to start later this month with an announcement at the PayPal developer's conference on October 26th in San Francisco. Currently, those buying apps from the Android Market need to use a pre-registered credit card, or to sign on to the purchasers Google account.
The present system has provided challenges for buyers and sellers of apps. For example, the company behind the SwiftKey predicitive typing application had 2,000 orders declined or canceled in its first four days on the Android Market. Those who paid in currencies other than the British Pound were automatically declined and the company had to manually re-do the orders.
The problems that Android Market users had with prices in different currencies will be rectified by the PayPal option as using the service will automatically convert the cost of an app to the buyer's local currency.
PayPal does have an app for the Apple iPhone and is a payment option for iTunes, but only if the buyer uses the PayPal credit card.
