Patent application shows Apple Pencil holder for iPads, again references use with iPhone
Back in December, we saw an Apple patent-filing over a new Apple Pencil model — one that may or may not be compatible with iPhones! The implication being that at least the big iPhone Plus models could get their own stylus and compete with the Galaxy Note series in the realm of phablets for professionals or people who just love their handwriting.
Now, a new patent shows us that Apple is also thinking about ways to easily store and transport the Pencil with your iPad, and it loosely touches upon the whole iPhone compatibility thing again. Let's talk about the latter case first — the patent looks at cases and covers, which have a compartment to hold the Apple Pencil. It's in the wording, where Apple says that the accessories would be suitable for use with devices, such as phones or tablets.
Yes, it's an awesome tool, but you need to think about carrying it around, take care not to forget it, and figure out where to keep it. Thankfully, future iPad Pro smart covers may have some sort of loop or another kind of holder or compartment for the Apple-branded stylus.
That's it for now... would you like to see the iPhone support Apple Pencil?
Now, this obviously doesn't confirm anything — patent wordings are generally so broad and rich on various definitions, they quickly become painfully boring to read. But hey, at least the filing shows us that Apple is thinking about storage options for that pesky Pencil!
