Pantech debuts new luxury phone for S.T. Dupont
Just the other day we compared Nokia's Erdos device to a Zippo. Now, we have a luxury handset made by Pantech that was designed to look like one of S.T. Dupont's expensive cigarette lighters. South Korea's third largest handset manufacturer was chosen by Dupont after the latter firm decided to enter the cellphone business. Of course, a luxury model like the Pantech Sky Dupont IM-U510LE is less about the features and more about appearance. That explains why the device will have only 2G connectivity to go with the 3 inch touchscreen, GPS, 3MP camera and gold plated edges. While no details have been released on carrier availability or launch date, the price will be $832 USD making this Pantech's most expensive phone to date. While a model like the IM-U510LE might go over well in Europe, U.S. cellphone buyers are more apt to spend their hard earned cash on a 3G device with more features, say the Touch Pro2 or even the Nokia N900.
