When it comes to PSP emulation on mobile, look no further than PPSSPP. Not only it eats Sony's classic handheld games for breakfeast, not only it works its magic on almost all Android devices (if they support OpenGL ES 2.0), but it also costs nothing! That is, the free version is ad-supported, while the paid version ($5.99) has no additional functionality and only exists to support the developer.

PPSSPP has been around for a while, but it was only two days ago when the app reached a big milestone - version 1.0 was released. When an emulator goes to 1.0, this means all the core functionality is there, stabilized, most games are playable from start to finish, and its mostly fixes and optimizations from there on. That's mostly the case with PPSSPP 1.0.0.0. The update delivers many bug fixes, improved compatibility, game-specific configurations, reduced audio latency (on supported devices), and more emulation improvements than you can handle, really.

PPSSPP will run to the max on Snapdragon 800-powered devices (or equal) and above, letting you play PSP classics in high resolutions that will render them almost unrecognisable at times. It also supports jailbroken iOS devices . There's a BlackBerry port as well, although it will take a while before these are updated. Check the website for more information. A bunch of controllers are compatible with it, such as the X360/XBone joypad, Razer Onza & Sabertooth, Logitech's F-Series, PS3/PS4 DualShock pads, and more. PSP on mobile doesn't get any better!
