Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus to be unveiled May 20th?

Last night we showed you the latest leaked image of the Oppo R7. The latest word on the handset is that it will become a challenger for the title of "world's thinnest smartphone." Tonight, a report out of China says that Oppo will unveil the phone on May 20th. The model features extremely thin side bezels giving it an edge-to-edge look.

More than one version of the Oppo R7 might see the light of day on May 20th. The same report that leaked the unveiling date adds that The Oppo R7 Plus will also be unwrapped at the same time. This premium version is said to carry a higher capacity battery than the 2000mAh cell that is expected to power the R7. Due to the thin design of the latter phone, Oppo can't employ a larger capacity juicer. The Oppo R5, which measures 4.85mm thin, is forced to make do with a 2000mAh battery.

We haven't seen much in the way of rumored specs on the Oppo R7. Instead, we have let the pictures do the talking. But this morning, we can tell you that the device is expected to feature a 4.7-inch 2.5D glass with resolution of 1080 x 1920. Previously, we told you to expect the 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795 CPU under the hood and a 20.7MP rear camera on the handset.
