Oppo R5s unveiled, offering a higher-spec'd version of the svelte Oppo R5
You might remember the Oppo R5, the 4.85mm thin handset that was introduced about 10 months ago. Oppo has beefed up the phone with the new Oppo R5s model. Bumping up the specs was a necessity here, especially since the performance of the Oppo R5 on some benchmark tests was not outstanding. The new model still measures 4.85mm, making it still one of the thinnest phones available.
The Oppo R5s keeps the 5.2-inch, 1080 x 1920 resolution screen found on the Oppo R5. That works out to a 424ppi pixel density. The Snapdragon 615 chipset still provides the horsepower with an octa-core 1.5GHz CPU, and the Adreno 405 GPU. The amount of RAM has been boosted to 3GB from 2GB, and internal storage has been doubled to 32GB. Oppo still didn't deem it necessary to have a microSD slot made available.
Found on the manufacturer's European website, the Oppo R5s is priced at the equivalent of $226 USD. The website also shows that the handset is coming soon, and will be offered in Grey.

The cameras remain the same, including the 13MP snapper on back that employs the Sony IMX214 sensor, and features an aperture of f/2.0. The front-facing 5MP camera also comes with an f/2.0 aperture. In order to keep the thin profile, a 2000mAh battery powers the device. Fast Charge helps you charge the cell up to a decent level quickly. Android 4.4.4 is pre-installed with the ColorOS 2.0 UI running on top, and 4G LTE connectivity is supported.
