Oppo to enter UK smartphone market soon; will target flagship and mid-range segments
While Oppo isn’t that well known on an international scale, within China the brand is pretty popular and often draws comparisons with Samsung due to its higher profit margins. But way back in June, the company commenced a push into Europe with releases in Spain, France, Italy, Russia, and the Netherlands. And according to new information obtained by MySmartPrice, the company’s next focus will be the high-end and mid-range segments in the UK.
When it comes to the most expensive smartphones, it will be the Oppo Find X that leads the way, although the Lamborghini Edition of this same device will also make an appearance on shelves in the UK. Presumably, the former will target Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro directly, while the latter will be aimed at Huawei’s recently-announced Mate 20 RS Porsche Design and any other ultra-premium smartphones that may be available.
Regarding the mid-range segment, the company will be betting on the Oppo F9. This smartphone was originally announced back in August and brings a metal and glass build complete with a large 6.3-inch display to the table. Internally, MediaTek’s Helio P60 can be found alongside 64GB of internal storage and the choice of 4GB or 6GB of RAM.
Presently, it’s unclear when Oppo’s debut in the UK market will happen. However, with the holiday season just around the corner, an arrival during the month of November seems like the most plausible scenario. Furthermore, if Oppo’s UK launch is anything like its arrival in other parts of Europe, availability through a number of major retailers and carriers is to be expected.
