Open your hidden Instagram message box; app to allow businesses to view follower metrics

Did you know that there is a hidden message box on Instagram? You might find solicitations, or other messages that don't matter to you. On the other hand, there could be some important missives that somehow ended up in the wrong place. To get to the box, follow these simple steps. First, you open the app.  Got it? Let's move on.

In the upper right corner there is an icon that looks like a physical in-box, similar to what you might find in an office. Tap on it. This is called Instagram Direct. If you have a hidden message, you will see a blue notification that says how many message requests were received. That is actually the number of messages in your hidden message box. Tap on the notification and you'll be taken to the hidden message box; that is all there is to it. Now that you know how to access it, check your hidden message box more often.

We also have some news about Instagram's new service for businesses. The site is allowing any company that has a business profile to find out demographic information about who is monitoring its posts. And these posts can be scheduled to show up at certain times of the day to match when the majority of the company's followers are online and are more apt to view it.

The feature will be called Insights. Besides demographics on company followers, it will also conduct analysis of posts. Insights will tell companies how many new people have started following them in the last few days and hours. This way, the firm can tell which posts have been the most effective at drawing potential customers. Insights will start rolling out within months.
