OnePlus opens physical store in Beijing
Believe it or not, OnePlus has opened a brick and mortar store in Beijing. The "Experience" store is the manufacturer's first such retail location. OnePlus held a media event on Tuesday, to commemorate the opening of the location. The store will be open for trial runs starting on December 1st, and will be fully open for business on December 20th.
The store has the OnePlus One on the shelves, along with the bamboo covered limited edition model, and the JBL Special Edition of the phone. The latter was introduced last month. Inside the store is a training area where customers are shown how to use certain products. Headphones, speakers and other accessories are on display, including different shells for the phone.
Reports out of China say that this is just the beginning and that OnePlus will be adding additional stores in the future. Perhaps that will mean less of a reliance on the invitation system that OnePlus has used to sell its first device. Recently, we told you how OnePlus founder Carl Pei said that using the invitations is a way to prevent the company from building too many phones. A new company like OnePlus cannot afford to have too much of its cash tied up in depreciating inventory.
