Open Beta 6 update brings several OnePlus 6T features to OnePlus 6 including Nightscape
Now that the OnePlus 6T has been introduced, the company is allowing those with the OnePlus 6 to grab some of the features offered on the latest OnePlus model. This is being accomplished through the Open Beta 6 update available now to OnePlus 6 owners. As we told you on Monday, one of these features is Nightscape. This is a software based enhancement for pictures shot in dim lighting. The Open Beta 6 update also adds Studio Lighting, which produces professional lighting techniques for selfies similar to Apple's Portrait Lighting feature.
Other changes found in the Open Beta 6 update for the OnePlus 6 include the addition of new navigation gestures, improved UI for About phone, an improved process for taking screenshots, and the November Android security update. It also adds a new design for Google Quick Search, and new magnification and Zooming gestures for the Gallery app. As OnePlus points out, this is not a stable version of the software so you might expect to experience some bugs when installed.
If you've already flashed an Open Beta and are running the last one, you will receive Open Beta 6 as an OTA update. If you're interested in receiving Open Beta updates on your OnePlus phone, you will need to follow the directions at http://downloads.oneplus.com, which include wiping all data from the device. If you do this, your phone will only receive Open Beta OTA updates in the future unless you return to Official Stable OTAs. Doing that will require the user to fully wipe his phone of all data and cache.
