OnePlus 6 and 6T will get Android 10 next month, OnePlus 5 and 5T next year
OnePlus makes some of the best all-around smartphones and part of their appeal is the software they’re running. OxygenOS is very close to what people call “stock Android” which allows OnePlus to tailor it to the latest Android version pretty quickly. The upcoming OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro will have the latest Android 10 out of the box, and the 7 and 7 Pro are getting the update right now. But Android 10 will also become available for older OnePlus devices going back as far as 2017.

Coming from AllAboutOnePlus is the expected timeline for the next major software update. OnePlus phones will be getting Android 10 in pairs according to their model number which makes sense since they usually have very similar hardware. The 2018 pair, OnePlus 6 and 6T, will start receiving the update around the end of October 2019. This is barely a month from now which means that last year’s OnePlus phones will beat most of the smartphones released in 2019 by other manufacturers. That’s what we like to see!

When it comes to the 2017 OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, the update will understandably happen a fair bit later. Owners of these devices will have to wait until Q2 of 2020. This means Android 10 might arrive as early as April and as late as June. While that’s not ideal, the important part is that the duo will get the update eventually.

That will be the third major update as both the OnePlus 5 and the 5T first arrived with Android 7. There aren’t many smartphones outside of Google's Pixels that receive three different Android versions, which again shows OnePlus’s dedication to giving the best possible user experience.
