OnePlus 5 and 5T update adds sleep standby optimization to improve battery
OnePlus recently promised to bring Project Treble support to both the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones via a future update, but it looks like it's not ready yet. The new OxygenOS 5.1.4 doesn't bring Project Treble support, but it adds some improvements and optimizations that are well worth mentioning.

First off, OnePlus 5/5T owners will get the latest July security patch along with the update, as well as some sleep standby optimizations. The latter can be found in the Settings / Battery / Battery optimizations / Advanced optimizations / Sleep standby optimizations.

According to OnePlus, the addition of sleep standby optimization should help manage battery energy much better. Basically, when it's turned on, the system should intelligently identify your sleep pattern based on the phone's usage.

So, during specific periods of inactivity, the phone will turn off the network, thus reducing the standby power consumption even further. Obviously, once you wake up, the phone will cancel all network restrictions and get out of Sleep Standby.

There are a couple of other improvements that OnePlus added in this update, such as improved photo clarity, general bug fixes, as well as a brand new Group Messaging.

All OnePlus 5/5T owners should receive the update in the next couple of days, so wait patiently if it doesn't show up on your phone right away.
