OnePlus 5 and 5T get Project Treble support in the latest OxygenOS update
OnePlus promised several months ago that both the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones will eventually feature support for Project Treble. An OxygenOS beta update added Project Treble to OnePlus 5 and 5T back in June, but it took the Chinese company many months to make it available to everyone.

Today, OnePlus released another OxygenOS update in the stable channel for the OnePlus 5 and 5T, which brings the long-awaited Project Treble support, along with a couple of other new features and improvements for the Indian market.

  • Supported Project Treble;
  • Supported IDEA India VoLTE (Default On);
  • Improved Bluetooth stability for phone calls;
  • Updated Android security patch to 2018.10.

If you didn't know, Project Treble is part of Android 8.0 Oreo and separates the platform's framework from the vendor's hardware code implementations. It will allow smartphone makers to limit the number of changes needed to issue major Android OS updates to just their proprietary software, while Google and companies providing the SoC (system-on-chip) will take care of their own.
