In a confusing move, carrier Bell has released an official upgraded OS for the BlackBerry Storm 9530. The build is version 4.7.0.122 which is a leap from the last officially released 4.7.0.75 for the 9530 from Verizon and RIM. Recently, a leaked version of the software, .113, was considered good enough to be the next official release as we
reported. The confusing issue with the .122 is that Bell did not include an installer with the software which means that at first, to download this on your Storm, you had to be a Bell customer and use Desktop Manager on your PC. Normally, anyone could have gone over to the BlackBerry web site and pick up the new OS there, but without the installer, non-Bell customers and other had to rely on other to pass along the OS from the cache on their PC. So now we have more questions to ask such as, why did Bell leave out the installer? When is Verizon going to issue their own OS upgrade? Early reports claim that the device runs faster and the browser is snappier. If you have downloaded .122, let us know what changes you've noticed in your Storm, good or bad.
