October 21st launch date for BlackBerry Storm2 9550 pulled on Verizon's intranet page
Back and forth we have gone, trying to determine Verizon's launch date for the BlackBerry Storm2 9550. Recently we showed you an intranet site belonging to the carrier that showed a launch date of October 21st for the 9550. The site now has been updated to reflect no official or unofficial launch date for the device. After last year's fiasco when the first-gen Storm was launched with more bugs than the Raid test laboratory, we're sure that Big Red is bending over backward to make sure that the Storm2 release is not a repeat. Crackberry is reporting that a hold up in the Storm's passing of Verizon's technical acceptance process was why the carrier did not join RIM and Vodafone in introducing the handset on October 15th. The overseas operator is taking pre-orders of the phone with shipments slated to start October 26th. One of the features listed on the intranet site for the Storm2 is its MiFi capabilities. If true, that means that devices will be able to share a 3G internet connection over the phone's Wi-Fi connectivity.
