Nokia and IBM team up for Lotus Notes
Out of the 140 million users for Lotus Notes, those with S60 Nokia devices will soon be able to access IBM's Lotus Notes according to a recent press release.
The ever so popular software, Lotus Notes Traveler, will be available in December 2008 for Nokia's S60 phones. The software enables the capabilities for real time access to email, address book, calender, etc.
With IBM's Institute for Business Value predicting a billion in figures of mobile internet users by 2011, only a long term haul between the collaboration of the two companies will tell how big of a threat this could be for IBM's competition, especially for Blackberry's enterprise solutions.
Per Soren Peterson, Nokia's senior VP, about 90% of business email can be facilitated, mobility wise, with the S60 devices resulting in a cost savings as any supplementary licenses or equipment, etc. will not be needed.
