Nokia Xseries to replace XpressMusic; S60 5th Edition on Eseries devices in 2010
Nokia World 2009 is closing in and the rumors about what we´re about to see there have intensified. According to the German website NokiaPort, the manufacturer will announce their new X and C series, with the 3G version of the 5530 XpressMusic expected to become the first handset in the X lineup. Probably, the Xseries will replace the XpressMusic entirely, which seems to be a reasonable assumption. Just like the one that implies a new N-Series cell phone featuring a touch sensitive screen will appear by the end of the year. We hope it´s not the N97 Mini that NokiaPort are talking about, since it looks like quite (even bigger than the N97) disappointment.
The N900 tablet was officially announced yesterday, but the rumors about its successor, the Maemo 5 based N920 coming out in 2010 have already begun to circulate. Another S60 5th Edition based member of the E-Series family (with a touch sensitive screen) is expected to roll out next year as well. Finally, the German website managed to send our dreams of a Nokia device with Xenon flash crashing down, but also got our hopes on high saying the Finnish manufacturer is about to embark on capacitive touch screens, which is good news. Nokia is also planning to adopt faster, new generation CPUs, but the guys at NokiaPort don´t seem to know anything specific about new software or Symbian versions.
We do hope that Nokia will reveal significant novelties at World 2009 and not just announce a few main-stream handsets.
