HMD Global is gearing up for the unveiling of one of its most controversial smartphones, the Nokia X. Although the handset was recently showcased in China, Nokia X hasn't been officially introduced yet, and that might not happen until mid-May.
The Finnish company is holding a 5-day event in Beijing, China, where it has all of its smartphones and feature phones showcased. However, aside from the devices that have already been launched on the market, HMD Global is displaying one that wasn't even announced yet, the Nokia X.
In fact, many billboards positioned near the location of the event advertise the upcoming Nokia X, even though it will not be announced for at least another two weeks from now. Although the Nokia X is showcased at the exhibition, no information about the phone's specs is displayed. Also, the device seems to be locked so that no one can peek at its hardware specifications.
According to an official invitation coming from HMD Global, the Nokia X will be revealed on May 16, which coincides with the European unveiling of the OnePlus 6. Despite the fact that the invite doesn't mention the Nokia X name, the fact that it is shaped in the form of a smartphone with a notched display suggests that this is the device HMD Global plans to announce next month.
