Nokia Beta Labs has released Java Runtime 2.0 for S60 5th Edition
Nokia Beta Labs has released a beta version of Java Runtime 2.0, meant for devices running Symbian S60 5th Edition. The software environment has been entirely rewritten, adds one touch install and improves application start-up times and performance. Moreover, Java Runtime packs for different S60 versions will be developed separately from now on. This will enable users to update their handsets through the built-in Nokia S60 Software Update that all smartphones of the manufacturer come equipped with.
Java Runtime 2.0 is currently available to owners of the Nokia N97 (software version starting with 20 and 21) and 5800 XpressMusic (software versions 10 and 11), so if you happen to be among the lucky few, you can download the update from here right away. Comments left on the website of Nokia Beta Labs bring word of certain issues due to the fact the app is installed in the system memory of the handset, which is rather scarce even on the Nokia N97. Share your opinion on the new Java Runtime 2.0 in the section below.
