Nokia 7 is now eligible for update to Android 8.1 Oreo
HMD Global has a stellar record of Android Oreo updates, even though is far from being a major player in the smartphone industry. Basically, most of the company's Nokia-branded smartphones launched in the last year or so have been updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, many of them even getting Android 8.1 Oreo updates.
The last device that makes on the long list of HMD smartphones to receive an Oreo update is the Nokia 7, which is a China-exclusive device. An international, beefed-up version of the handset was launched earlier this year as Nokia 7 plus, but this one comes with Android 8.1 Oreo on board.
Now, the Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Nokia 7 weighs in at 700MB and requires about 1.4GB free storage. It brings many new features such as dual SIM dual 4G VoLTE support, as well as face recognition unlock.
You can also expect to get the May security patch, some enhancements to power management, camera user interface and compatibility of 3.5mm audio jack. Keep in mind that all camera settings will be cleared after applying the update, so you'll have to adjust those again.
