Nokia 3 confirmed to receive Android 7.1.1 Nougat by August's end

Since HMD Global unveiled its first Nokia-branded smartphones, the Finnish company promised to deliver timely Android OS updates for at least 1 and a half years after the handsets make their debut on the market.

The Finnish startup reiterated that aspect a few times over the last couple of months, and today confirmed it again. One of the three Android smartphones launched by HMD recently, the Nokia 3 ships with Android 7.0 Nougat on board.

However, HMD's chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas confirmed recently the Nokia 3 is on track to receive an even newer version of Android. According to him, by the end of August, Nokia 3 will be updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

It's no surprise that HMD can provide Nokia smartphone users with timely updates since the company did not launch too many devices on the market yet. That being said, we can safely assume that at least half the smartphones to be released by HMD this year will be getting Android O updates at some point in the future.

We've already had the chance to take a more in-depth look at the Nokia 3, so you might want to check out our full review and see how it performed.
