Nokia 2 leaked specs confirm it will be cheapest HMD smartphone

The unannounced Nokia 2 is supposed to be the cheapest Android smartphone to be launched by HMD. Although we're expecting the entry-level handset to be unveiled in early 2018, there's a chance that the Finnish company will launch the Nokia 2 by the end of the year.

We've been given a sneak peek at HMD's low-end smartphone a while ago courtesy to Evan Blass, but now we have a little bit more information about what's under Nokia 2's hood. An AnTuTu benchmark listing reveals some of the phone's specifications such as processor, memory, display, and software.

The Nokia 2 will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable storage. Even though the size of the display isn't mentioned, we do know it will feature HD (720p) resolution.

On the back, the Nokia 2 has an 8-megapixel primary camera, while on the front there should be a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. There's no info on the battery (previous reports mention a 4,000 mAh battery), but the smartphone will ship with Android 7.1.1 Nougat right out of the box.

Judging by these leaked specs, we can't see the Nokia 2 cost more than $100 outright (the same price briefly listed by B&H). Obviously, customers should be able to pick this one up much cheaper at carriers.
