Nexus 8 tablet mentioned in import database
First the good news: we seem to have evidence confirming the existence of a Google Nexus 8 tablet. References to the device have been spotted on the Indian web site Zauba, which tracks cargo imported into the country. The bad news is that the import records do not reveal anything in terms of device specifications. Nada. All we know is that the handful of units that have been shipped are prototypes, meaning that the device is still being tested. Also, it is stated that the alleged Google Nexus 8 tablet is similar to the Nexus 7, although we aren't sure what that's supposed to mean exactly. Are they alike visually, or is it that they are made by the same manufacturer? We can only guess.
We've been hearing rumors about a Google Nexus 8 tablet for months. It is speculated that HTC, not Asus, will be making the next Nexus slate and that we should be expecting to see it launch in the third quarter of 2014. As far as specs go, the tablet could be based on an Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC and its screen is believed to have a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels.
Of course, you should keep in mind that the above are just rumors based on little solid evidence. Better not get too excited about a Google Nexus 8 tablet until Google makes it official.
