Next version of Nova Launcher to bring adaptive icons support

2comments

A brand new version of Nova Launcher was released earlier this week, which brought quite a few important changes that Android users can take advantage of. But there's a new version of the launcher that's being in the works now that will add a couple of other major improvements.

Released as beta, Nova Launcher v5.5 brings support for adaptive icons into the mix. The new feature is fully compatible with devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher, but some icons will require at least Android Nougat.

If you plan to install the beta version of Nova Launcher 5.5, then you should know that there are some issues with the adaptive icons support, especially those in the dynamic calendar.

Aside from the addition of adaptive icons support, the latest beta includes some minor fixes and the option to use and control the style of adaptive icons from apps that support them. Also, users will be able to scale and reshape legacy icons to match the adaptive style.

Those who enrolled in the beta program will be able to update to v5.5 via Google Play Store once the app is uploaded, which is likely to happen very soon.
