Android 5.1 is coming to the Motorola Moto G GPe
While Android 5.0 is still being sent out to several Android phones, Google made the rounds
with Android 5.1 for some of its Nexus devices. Now, the stock Android Google Play edition models are due to be served up a heaping helping of the latest and greatest Android build. For example, the
Motorola Moto G Google Play edition is receiving the 171MB Android 5.1 update OTA as you read this.
The Moto G is apparently the first Google Play edition model to receive Android 5.1. The update brings another shot at longer battery life, improvements to the 64-bit ART compiler, better RAM management and improvements to system stability. A phone that is lost or stolen will remain unable to run without the owner entering his/her Google account information, even if the phone is factory reset.
The build number for the Android 5.1 update is LMY47M. If you are about to go through the updating process, you should make sure that you are on a Wi-Fi network before you start. Your battery should be recharged to at least 50%. Because the update is being sent out in waves, you might not receive it right away. Don't panic. Android 5.1 will eventually hit your Moto G Google Play edition.
