New renderings of Motorola Sholes Tablet XT701 now show 8MP camera
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC, the Chinese version of the FCC, released a rendering of the Motorola Sholes Tablet XT701. The renderings showed up on a Russian web site, Mobise.com and while some things remain the same from earlier images such as that bump on the right side of the unit that sticks out a little, there is also a change in the camera which has been improved from a 5MP shooter to an 8MP one. The Xenon flash remains. The tablet certainly shares a similar design with the DROID right down to the 3.7 inch display with 854 X 480 pixels. One big change is the Tablet's lack of the slide out QWERTY keyboard. The XT701 is expected to ship with Android 2.1 (vs. the current 2.0.1 on the DROID), offer an FM radio, 720p video playback and an HDMI port. The Sholes Tablet should launch in China and possibly Russia early next year. As far as the difference in the camera's MP count, we either have seen Motorola upgrade the camera, or perhaps there are two variants of the same model. Either way, Motorola is beginning to take advantage of its new found popularity and success with the Android OS to spread its wings.
