In order to celebrate that most traditional of holidays, the World Emoji Day, Apple previewed the new pictography that will be hitting your iPhone this fall, most likely with the iOS 13 update. These are based on the approved characters in Unicode 12.0 and, boy, did the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee select "on the basis of the Emoji Selection Factors in Submitting Emoji Proposals."
A full blast of 270 new emojis is coming to both iPhones and Androids this fall, and it is the most diverse crowd ever. There is a rich variety of disabilities emoji, and you can now mix and match the handholding one by both gender and tone to create 75 possible combos.
The animals category is getting sloth, flamingo, orangutan and skunk. Oh, there is now a "tiny penis" and "period" emojis, too! Soon, we will only be talking in pictures, just as our prehistoric forefathers envisioned. The Subcommittee actually calls the small penis emoji "pinching hands" representing "small amount" but they can't easily fool us.
We were getting so tired of writing the word "garlic" all the time, and good guy Unicode included one emoji for that breathless feeling. Whew.
Google sent us all the new stuff as it would look like on your Android phone, too, check it out below.
