New, official beta version of Opera Mini 5 is now available
Opera Mini is the browser of choice for many cell phone users, because it cuts down on nearly 90% of the traffic, comes free of charge and supports various platforms. The new version (still beta at this time) aims at making the app even more appealing by improving the overall design and adding novelty functions, while retaining all features that have made the browser popular.
The most significant change (aside from the overall look) is the addition of tabs, a browser feature that most of us find pretty handy when surfing the Web on desktop computers. The new version of Opera Mini has been optimized for touch-screen use and remembers your login details. It comes with support for copy and paste and you can now search the Internet for any word that you have selected. The browser home screen showing shortcuts to your favorite web pages was first introduced by the computer version of Opera and got adopted by Chrome, Safari etc. later. The function is now available with Opera Mini 5. Finally, BlackBerry smartphone owners will be pleased to find out the browser now supports their devices as well.
