A Samsung Gear S4 smartwatch might be released this year
Samsung is reportedly working on a brand new smartwatch that should succeed the Gear S3 series (launched in late 2016) and the Gear Sport (released in October 2017). According to SamMobile, the new watch has the model number SM-R800, and might be called Samsung Gear S4. For now, though, this name can't be confirmed.
At the moment, there aren't many details about this alleged Samsung Gear S4. However, it's said that the watch should - unsurprisingly - bring upgraded internals, as well as enhanced fitness capabilities, including more accurate sleep tracking.
Similar to its predecessors, the Gear S4 will most probably run Samsung's own Tizen OS, thus it's not going to be a Wear OS watch. Furthermore, we’re expecting the new device to be compatible with both Android, and iOS phones - just like the Gear S3 Classic (pictured above), Gear S3 Frontier, and Gear Sport.
Unfortunately for those waiting for a new Samsung-made smartwatch to hit the market, the Gear S4 SM-R800 might not be released before the fourth quarter of the year (October - December). We'll keep a close eye on this to let you know more as soon as new information is available.
