New Galaxy S7 family member uncovered? Model could be a possible Galaxy S7 Sport
Every time a new Samsung Galaxy flagship rolls around, we find ourselves wondering about what sort of related handsets Samsung might also release. This year we started things off with a pair of twins: the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. But would those two soon be joined by other models? Maybe a Galaxy S7 mini? What about a Galaxy S7 Active? There's been a good amount of evidence pointing to that latter phone recently, from Samsung itself admitting the model's existence, to leaked pics of actual hardware. Today we're checking out what could be another member of the Galaxy S7 family, and possibly a phone closely related to the GS7 Active.

We're talking about Samsung's model SM-G880, as revealed a few days back by an Indian import database as a handset currently under development.

Remember, the Galaxy S7 itself is model G930, the Galaxy S7 edge is model G935, and it's looking like the Galaxy S7 Active will emerge as model G891.

So what does that make this new phone? Well, one theory suggests that we could be looking at the next generation of the old Galaxy S5 Sport, which itself was Samsung model G870; if AT&T gets the GS7 Active, as it's looking it will, could Sprint end up with this G880 as a Galaxy S7 Sport?

It's a nice theory, but far from a certainty from this point. All we know is that pricing (as revealed through the customs value declaration) seems relatively consistent with the GS7 Active, so we're likely looking at another model of the same caliber. But this could easily be an all-new Galaxy S7 variant instead of a continuation of the Sport line – we'll just have to keep an eye out for any new evidence to help us narrow things down some.
