Back in June, reliable tipster Evan Blass sent out a tweet stating that BlackBerry has as many as two new handsets planned, carrying the code names Juno and Krypton. At the time, that was all of the information that could be found about these handsets. Today, a BlackBerry phone with the model number BBD100-1 received its Bluetooth certification from the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group).
Based on rumored specs, the BBD100-1 could be another model in the DTEK line up. Designed and manufactured by TCL under a license procured from BlackBerry, the models currently sporting the DTEK name include the mid-range DTEK50 and the high-end DTEK60. Both of these are "all touch" designs without a physical QWERTY keyboard.
Based on a UAprof found in June, the BBD100-1 will be powered by the Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 626 chipset. While the handset's screen size is unknown, it will feature a 1080 x 1920 (FHD) resolution. The device will be equipped with 4GB of RAM. The certification from the Bluetooth SIG reveals that the model will come with Bluetooth 4.2, and runs on software version AAN469. And the certification does show that TCL is the manufacturer of the phone.
We have no word on when to expect this new 'Berry to be made official. Even with the Bluetooth certification done, it still could be some time before this new BlackBerry handset sees the light of day.
