NVIDIA Shield Android TV remote app gets new design, app shortcuts
Before unveiling its new Android TV box, NVIDIA is making sure that everything else around it is brand new and matches the upcoming product. Today it's the NVIDIA Shield TV app that's getting a lot of improvements ahead of the new Android TV box's launch expected to happen by the end of the year.
The most obvious change is the new design featuring a main screen with shortcuts to all the apps installed on the NVIDIA Shield TV. The new UI now includes a toolbar with shortcuts for microphone, volume controls, and power, 9to5google points out.
Thanks to the new main screen, NVIDIA Shield TV users will be able to launch apps on the Android TV box from the Shield TV remote. A handful of other new features like swipe pad, volume control side drawer UI, voice control through Google Assistance, and UI for a keyboard that offers support for multi-language, edit, copy and paste functionalities, have been added too.
Also, the latest update includes some connectivity and stability bug fixes as well. Finally, a dedicated button for the settings menu now lets users people to fiddle with various options.
