There was a time when Japan was two years ahead of everyone else when it came to phones appearing for the seasonal lineup of NTT DoCoMo and its other carriers, then the gap shrank to a year in the early years of iOS and Android, and now it has shrunk even more, but is still there, considering the portfolio that NTT DoCoMo unveiled today.
The interesting takes are that the Samsung Galaxy S III will land with dual-core Snapdragon S4 in Japan as well, for LTE radio purposes, which was mostly expected, but we were more curious to see the Sony Xperia GX in flesh and blood at the presentation.
It is indeed slated for July release, as we were tipped, and the Xperia SX for August, but the shape seems a bit different from the pics we got with the official announcement, namely the sides are not that curved inwards as it seemed then.
Still, we can't wait to see some camera samples with the phone, as this new 13MP "stacked" Exmor R sensor is supposed to be the next level in smartphone photography. Have a look at the whole lineup in the grand presentation from this morning in the video below - the Xperia GX presentation starts at 7:05.
