Murtazin: Tizen almost DOA
A tweet from Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin says that the Tizen OS is just about DOA. On Tuesday, we told you that the word from inside Samsung is that because of a lack of apps at the current time, the expected August launch of the first Tizen flavored phone has been delayed. The Korean based OEM wants the shelves to be full of apps for the platform first before launching the phone, not the other way around. The report on Tuesday mentioned November as a new target date for the release of the handset, which is supposedly a high-end model.

But Murtazin's tweet says that the delay is actually a cancellation of the entire Tizen project and he doubts that Samsung will release more than one Tizen powered handset for 2014. The OS is essentially a combination of Samsung's Bada and Nokia's MeeGo and was beginning to take on more importance inside Samsung as a way for the manufacturer to maintain its freedom from Google and its open source Android platform.

A follow-up tweet from Murtazin hints that Intel is doing a moire interesting Android based project that will also involve Samsung.
