Movie tie-in and sweepstakes may point to the Samsung Epic 4G's release
Sprint might've unintentionally narrowed down the launch date for the Samsung Epic 4G in what appears to be a contest that's going to be running in conjunction with the upcoming movie “Going the Distance.” In the documentation sent out to Sprint customers, Sprint will actually be awarding 10 first prize winners a Samsung Epic 4G handset while one grand prize winner will indulge in a 4-day, 3-night getaway with $1,000 in prize money to spend on whatever they desire – interestingly enough, there is no mention if the grand prize winner will win a handset, but with that kind of stash being awarded to them, they could probably afford a couple. Now the juicy part in all of it is that the movie is expected to be released on August 27th with the contest ending midnight on September 3. If previous movie tie-ins have any weight, we might see the handset launch either on the day the movie is released or on September 3. When you look back at how the HTC EVO 4G was tied to the movie “Price of Persia: The Sands of Time”, which was released on May 28th, the handset was eventually launched a little later on June 4. Either way, September is looking mightily pretty for the second 4G enabled handset in the country.
