Motorola says it will launch Motorola RAZR HD next month in Germany, will Verizon join them?
Motorola has said that it would release the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD sometime before the holiday season. That is no surprise because what manufacturer in its right mind wouldn't want to catch as many Xmas or Chanukah sales as possible. For those Verizon customers who already have decided to go for one of the two new models, it means possibly waiting until late November to pick up that new DROID RAZR they want so badly.
But there is some good news and it comes directly from Motorola. In a press release for the Motorola RAZR HD in Germany, the manufacturer says that the phone will be available in October, exclusively from O2. The price? 549 EUR ($719.52 USD) off-contract. Usually, the European versions of Motorola phones get launched after Verizon has done its thing. Assuming that this pattern holds up, Verizon customers might get their shot at the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD before Halloween.
It's old news now, but for those late to the wonderful world of smartphones, the DROID name is used by Verizon and Motorola thanks to a licensing deal with George Lucas. The deal does not extend to foreign carriers which is why the DROID name is not on the same models overseas.
