The Motorola DROID 4 style side slider on the Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE
One of the biggest surprises for Sprint last year was the
success of the Motorola PHOTON 4G. What was not to love? You had the 4.3 inch qHD screen, the dual-core Tegra 2 processor, dual LED flash for the 8MP camera and 1080p HD video capture.
As early as April,
speculation started about a sequel for the device which was named the Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE. Early pictures of the device revealed what the "Q" was going to stand for, which was the same thing it
stands for on the T-Mobile myTouch line,
a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard. Sure enough, the Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE packs what appears to be the same QWERTY as the Motorola DROID 4.
When Sprint CEO Dan Hesse was conducting the carrier's conference call for Q2 earnings, he mentioned that
the Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE would be launching soon. Now,
PhoneDog says that it will be August 19th when the model is released via Sprint. The word is that
Sprint's people are training on the phone. Previously, it was learned that the Motorola PHOTON Q 4G LTE
will come with an unlockable bootloader, a feature that the manufacturer plans on offering on its future models.
While we do have an idea on the date that the phone will be launched, we have no word on pricing.
