Motorola DROID 2 Global to get bug-fixing upgrade that also improves audio during calls
Owners of the Motorola DROID 2 Global are simply waiting on Verizon to rollout a new firmware upgrade. The update will download version 2.4.330 onto your device which afterward will no longer bring up a blank screen when you dial the call forwarding prefix *71. When powering up the phone, it will no longer indicate "No Service" and will not reset when you switch from Global Mode to GSM/UMTS. When you switch the other way from GSM/UMTS to Global Mode, the UI is refreshed. And when sending an SMS to a person overseas, the 011 prefix is automatically added to the country code belonging to the other party's phone number.
Other improvements will allow the audio to sound better during phone calls and will reduce those dreaded UI lockups. The upgrade is 15.6MB and you can check to see if it has landed on your Motorola DROID 2 Global, awaiting your instructions to start, by heading to Settings>About phone>System updates. If not, be patient, as no DROID 2 Global unit will be left out.
