Moto Z Play Droid Android 7.0 update starts rolling out today

1comment
Owners of the Moto Z Play Droid will be happy to hear that the phone is expected to be updated to Android 7.0, starting today. While some select Moto Z Play Droid handsets did receive the update during the weekend, Verizon has today's date listed as the start of the full roll out. The software version of the new OS build is NDNS25.137-24-1-2. When the notification arrives telling you that the update is available to be downloaded and installed, make sure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, and your battery should be fully charged.

Android 7.0 includes an enhanced version of Doze, which helps extend battery life by preventing apps from running in the background when the phone is inactive. It also adds multi-window capabilities, customized quick settings menu, and a "clear all" button allowing you to close all open apps with a single tap. With Android 7.0, you can respond to certain messages directly from notifications, and the update includes all the new emoji from Unicode 9.0.

Since the update is being sent out OTA, not all Moto Z Play DROID owners will receive the update today. In fact, it might take several days before the notification arrives. You can try to manually download the update by going to Settings > System updates > Check for system update. If that doesn't work, just sit tight. You will eventually receive the update.
