Motorola gearing up for Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play Android 9 Pie roll-out
About a month ago, Motorola kicked off the roll-out of Moto G6 Plus Android 9 Pie update, but two other G6 series phone are still waiting for the update. Well, we're now happy to report that Motorola is gearing up to deliver the long-awaited Android 9 Pie update to both the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play.
Apparently, Motorola has already pushed the update to a limited number of users in Brazil, XDA Developers reports. We believe a wider roll-out should commence in less than a month if tests go well, although we can't really vouch for it.
Thanks to a screenshot provided by one the Moto G6 owners who received the Android 9 Pie update, we've learned that it contains the January security patch, but there's also an issue with Google Pay functionality which seems to have been compromised.
Motorola can't release Android 9 Pie without fixing the Google Pay functionality first, which is why we expect more beta builds to be released in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully, both the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play will get the update by the time Google reveals Android Q in Q2 2019.
